Debate: Don't raise the thresholds for higher education

In response to the government's proposal to raise interest rates on student loans, SFS has published a debate article together with Saco Student Council. In the article, we point out that the proposal pits young people and professionals against each other, and that social recruitment risks increasing.

"The government has proposed that the interest rate on the loan portion of the student loan will be 11 times as high as today. The interest rate increase is proposed to apply to both new and old CSN loans and to apply from 2023. Increased repayments on loans later in life mean in practice that it will cost more money to study – especially for those who choose to study long courses, such as teachers, civil engineers, social workers or doctors. The increase is intended to finance a transition study support for professionals in mid-life."
